New Delhi: Famous for his controversial remarks on madrasas and Ram temple, Uttar Pradesh (UP) Shia Central Waqf Board chairperson Wasim Rizvi once again seems to be working on his aim to divide Muslim community and playing in the hands of saffron remote control. Wasim Rizvi, on Monday, launched a new political party, with the name Indian Shia Awami League (ISAL). He also released party logo which is on a black backdrop with ISAL written in white and an eagle at the hunt.
Rizvi named himself the president, there are two vice-presidents and 13 others are included in the national executive committee of the party.
According to him, the party will function in 16 states including UP, Karnataka, Bihar, Jammu, Kashmir, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Goa, Telangana, Haryana, Jharkhand, Punjab and Chandigarh. State presidents of the said districts have been nominated. Presidents of 45 districts of UP have also been nominated, he said.
TOI has quoted Rizvi as saying “The political party has been formed to ensure the development and upliftment of the most backward communities in general and Shias in particular. The Shia community is an extremely backward Muslim minority which has been deprived of its rights assured under the various government schemes, as part of a larger conspiracy. This alienated us from the social and political empowerment as was aimed by successive governments.”
It must be recalled that Rizvi had termed madrasas a breeding ground for terrorists and had said that the Ram temple be built in Ayodhya and Babri Masjid be shifted from disputed site to Lucknow.
