Malala’s Father Has a Message About Equality and Empowering Daughters

Ziauddin Yousafzai, an educator and the father of Malala, speaks about the patriarchal world he lives in, how both men and women deserve equal opportunities for education and how independent identity is imperative in order to develop a better society. He speaks of the importance of education, in particular for women – but also about the importance of human and women rights.

Malala was shot by the Taliban in 2012 because she dared to go to school. When people ask Ziauddin what he did when raising such a spectacular daughter, he replies, “Don’t ask me what I did do. Ask me what I didn’t do. I did not clip her wings.”
