Maulana Azad’s impeccable personality, character were beyond comparison

Azad Day at MANUU

Hyderabad: Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was not only a frontline leader of the Indian freedom struggle but he was also an eminent scholar and theologist. An ardent opponent of two nation theory, he was the one who provided solace and courage to the Indian Muslims to stay in the country in the post independent turbulent era, Prof. Zafar Ahmad Siddiqui said Thursday.

Prof. Zafar Ahmad Siddiqui of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was delivering Azad Memorial lecture on “Maulana Abul Kalam Azad: Ek Naabagha-e-Rozgar Shakhsiyat” (Maulana Azad : A Legendary Personality) at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU).

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) organized the lecture as part of Azad Day Celebrations 2018 and in connection with National Education Day. Maulana Azad was the first Education Minister of Independent India.

“Maulana Azad’s impeccable personality and character were beyond comparison. He always stood against the tyrant. He was a versatile writer, journalist and a leading light of freedom movement”, Prof. Siddiqui said.

“Maulana Azad with his unique and impressive style of writing, took Urdu journalism to greater heights of classic. That is the reason he has been accepted as not only a fine editor but also a leading literary figure”, he added.

Prof. Sididqui also pointed out similarities between Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), and called the later as the coloned version.
