Hear Our Voices: A Reading of Muslim Women’s Stories

The human voice can cut through the white noise and BS of text. Eyes pacing back and forth across the LED computer screen can easily broaden the mind’s horizons. But a voice can do you one better. It’ll open up your heart.

Open your ears to the sounds of resistance from all ages, ethnicities, genders, and faiths across the nation. tweet

Content always matters. But the breathing, the change of pace, the volume, and the intonation only make your content more colorful. It’s the delivery that brings the story to life. We hope this compilation resembles an old friend having a conversation with you.

Open your ears to the sounds of resistance from all ages, ethnicities, genders, and faiths across the nation. Listen to the raw words of a vulnerable Muslim woman reclaiming her American identity days before November 8. Pay close attention as two incredibly bright young girls ponder their belief in God. And last, but certainly not least, become inspired by the work of one woman as she shatters body stereotypes and shaming with her sass and smarts and style.

We, the Muslim Girl Army, present the first installment of Hear Our Voices.

Muslim Girl writers Hira Ismail, Amani Hamed, Dena Igusti, Marwa Adina, and Leah Vernon all contributed to this compilation. Thank you for your fearlessness and eloquence. Peace.
