NEET 2019: Last date of application extended after SC lifts upper age limit

According to the NTA Schedule, NEET 2019 will be held on May 05, 2019 – in pen and paper as well as onlone mode

NEET 2019 Last Date Extended

NEET 2019: The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Thursday extended the last date to apply for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) 2019 up to December 07, 2018.

This came after the Supreme Court of India lifted the upper age limit and allowed candidates above 25 years of age to appear for the mandatory entrance exam for admission to MBBS, BDS and other medical and para-medical courses.

“In view of the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s Order in SLP (C) No(s). 14320/2018 and in other connected matters, dated 29th November, 2018, the petitioners / candidates who are 25 years of age and above shall be entitled to apply and appear in the NEET (UG)-2019 examination provisionally”, the NTA said in an official statement.

“Accordingly, the last date for filling up online application form has been extended by one week i.e. from 30.11.2018 to 07.12.2018 and fee payment from 01.12.2018 to 08.12.2018 (through Credit/Debit Card/Net-Banking/UPI up to 11:50 p.m. of 08.12.2018 and through e-challan (SBI) upto bank hours of 08.12.2018)”, the NTA said.

Stating that the date is also extended in view of the Order passed by the Hon’ble High Court of Madras, Madurai Bench, the NTA said, “There is no change in the remaining conditions.”

The Supreme Court of India on Thursday hearing a bunch of petitions challenging the Medical Council of India’s (MCI) decision to fix an upper age limit for NEET for admission to medical colleges, a bench headed by Justice S A Bobde said such candidates will take the exam provisionally and the matter will be subject to the final outcome of the case pending before it.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) started on its website ntaneet.nic.in (and also on nta.ac.in) from November 01, 2018 online registration of students who want to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) to be held in the month of May, 2019.

According to the NTA Schedule, NEET 2019 will be held on May 05, 2019 – in pen and paper as well as onlone mode. The NEET 2019 admit card will be available for download from April 15, and the NEET 2019 result will be released on June 5, 2019.

Clearing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) will make candidates eligible for admission to First year MBBS, BDS, BUMS, BAMS, BHMS and other medical and paramedical courses.

The NTA has also established a countrywide network of Test Practice Centres (TPCs) for all students so that everyone will have an opportunity to practice before the exam. More than 3000 schools and colleges with computer centres are being made available on every Saturday/Sunday for practice and mock test. Any student can use the facility free of charge. An App is being developed which will enable the students to choose the nearest TPC.

The TPCs will have a downloaded Computer Based Test (CBT) which will be similar to the actual test to be conducted on the exam day. The practice tests will help the candidates to familiarize themselves with logging into the system, going through the detailed instructions regarding the test, using the mouse or numeric keyboard on screen (virtual) for attempting each question, scrolling down to the next question, navigating between questions, reviewing and editing their options and submit questions.
